The inaugural edition of the T20 Spring Challenge, a new women’s domestic T20 tournament introduced by Cricket Australia, is set to take place from Friday, October 11, to Sunday, October 20, 2024. This tournament was introduced as a response to the shortening of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), ensuring that domestic women’s cricket in Australia continues to thrive.
The tournament will take place over 10 days, with matches being held at two venues: Adelaide and Sydney. Nine teams are set to participate, including the eight WBBL teams—Sydney Thunder Women, Brisbane Heat Women, Melbourne Renegades Women, Hobart Hurricanes Women, Sydney Sixers Women, Adelaide Strikers Women, Perth Scorchers Women, and Melbourne Stars Women—along with the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Women.
Each team will play four matches, and the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals and finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 19 at 4:30 AM IST and 9:00 AM IST, while the final will take place on October 20 at 9:00 AM IST.
The tournament will kick off with a match between Sydney Thunder Women and Brisbane Heat Women on October 11. Since the T20 Spring Challenge coincides with the Women’s T20 World Cup, many top international players will not be available, providing an excellent platform for domestic talent to shine.
Telecast and Live Streaming in India
Unfortunately, the T20 Spring Challenge 2024 will not be live-telecasted in India. At the moment, there are no official broadcast or live-streaming platforms confirmed for Indian viewers. However, fans can follow the tournament through match updates and highlights on social media and official websites of Cricket Australia and WBBL.
As the tournament progresses, Indian fans may also look out for updates on possible streaming options that might become available.
